ABOUT SILVERADO JEWELLERY

Silverado Jewellery is a family business founded by Jess and Andrew Bird in 1994 with a tiny shop in the Brighton Lanes that quickly became a mecca for customers seeking simple and affordable silver jewellery. We were soon joined by the amazing Emma, who helped us transform the business into the gorgeous stores we have today.

As well as our flagship Brighton store in the heart of the North Laine, we have since opened a shop in the historic Sussex town of Lewes; a beautiful little shop on the High Street selling fabulous contemporary jewellery. Our newest store is tucked down Swan Lane in the centre of Guildford, which we opened in 2014.

As you may have guessed, we love jewellery and take great pride in sourcing the best pieces from a range of fabulous contemporary jewellery designers both locally and further afield. Quality and sustainability are both our priority and we only buy designs that we can’t wait to wear ourselves. Most collections are handmade and come in a variety of styles to suit all tastes and budgets. Most of our designer jewellery collections are crafted in sterling silver and gold vermeil, many with stunning gemstones.

The vision for our shops has always been to create beautiful, inviting spaces where everyone can discover a piece of jewellery that they will cherish forever. We offer a relaxed and friendly shopping environment and pride ourselves on our excellent customer service. There is nothing we love more than helping you find the perfect gift for a loved one or a special treat for yourself.

Jewellery is often purchased at significant milestones in life, whether it’s marking a marriage, an anniversary, a birth or the loss of someone special. It is always such a pleasure for us to play a small part in these moments and over the years we have shared a lot of laughter and tears with our customers. It is this personal approach that sets us apart and the reason we have so many returning customers.

OUR ETHICS

As well as offering the best customer service we pride ourselves on taking care of our team and offering a fun working environment. Silverado is a member of the Living Wage Foundation, ensuring that all employees receive a decent hourly rate for their work. We also work with local organisations campaigning for and promoting the Living Wage.

Silverado is committed to supporting both local and international charities and we are proud to donate a proportion of our profits each year to selected causes. Since the scheme began we have donated over £72,000 to these charities. Our current charity partner is Pelican Parcels, a wonderful Sussex-based organisation which redistributes donated items to local families facing financial hardship. You can read more about their work here

Looking after the environment is very important now and for future generations, that’s why 100% of the energy consumed by Silverado comes from renewable energy sources. We are also pursuing a zero-landfill policy.

A NOTE ON OUR DESIGNERS

We are proud of our designer’s commitment to environmental and ethical issues and we champion designers who handcraft their jewellery with recycled silver. Many of our designers work with Fairmined as part of their mission to improve environmental and social responsibility within the jewellery industry. Fairmined is an accredited assurance label that certifies gold from small-scale mining organisations in line with the UN standards for responsible environmental, social and economic mining practices. Their mission is to transform mining into an active force for good and provide the world with a source of gold to be proud of. Read more here.
